ABOUT EMILY
Emily Surabian is an Art Therapist and visual artist living and working in the Greater Boston Area. Emily received her Master’s degree at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY in the Low-Residency MPS in Art Therapy and Creative Development Program, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2021.
Currently practicing as a Provisional Art Therapist and administrator at Express Yourself, Emily collaborates with artists and youth with mental illness through the arts.
She graduated from Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Art Therapy, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2018. Growing up on the North Shore of Massachusetts has led to much inspiration for Emily’s work. Her love for the ocean and marine life was sparked by living so close to the beach as a child, and has continued into her adulthood. Especially when considering color palette, movement, and shapes for her compositions, she often looks to the organic aspects of nature and the ocean. The rolling of waves and the differing shades of colors the ocean portrays to the eye are of great influence.
